June Meeting
Save the date, Tuesday, June 13th, with a special guest speaker joining us, Sandra Schwinn! You won't want to miss her presentation!
Come and learn from her renowned expertise working with Monarch Butterflies.
Sandra Schwinn is a Retired Teacher with a Master’s degree in Education. She became involved with Monarchs 42 years ago after finding a caterpillar and raising it with her two children.
She has raised Monarchs for many years, providing caterpillars for classrooms, schools, and local events. She has given away hundreds of milkweed plants and seeds over the years. She established her first Monarch Waystation in 2007, #1524, and her last one in 2020, #32748.
She has been involved in creating waystations at schools, churches, nonprofits, and businesses. She has tagged migrating Monarchs, with one of the tags being discovered in Mexico.
She started two Facebook Groups, Butterflies and Moths of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, in 2012 and Oklahoma Friends of Monarchs in 2015. As a Citizen Scientist, she has been involved with Journey North for 16 years, documenting Monarch and milkweed sightings. She encourages others to report their sightings.
May Meeting
Matthew Southall, Tulsa Botanical Garden curator of the (soon to open) Bumgarner Lotus Pool and Stanford Family Liberty Garden, will be presenting some great updates (including photos!) on both of the new gardens – which are looking fabulous!
